Just like any doctor’s office, SafeGard must verify your identity before providing medical care or prescriptions.
SafeGard uses Persona, an identity-verification platform trusted by global healthcare organizations, to securely confirm your identity. You’ll be asked to upload a photo ID (such as a passport or driver’s license) and take a quick selfie using your camera. Persona compares the two to confirm that you are the same person pictured on the ID—a standard requirement in telemedicine.
Your actual ID image and selfie are not transmitted to SafeGard. Persona simply returns a secure confirmation that your identity has been verified.
Providing your photo ID and selfie protects you by ensuring that:
Your prescriptions are issued to the correct person
Your medical information stays private
No one can use your identity to obtain medications
Patients under 18 years old do not verify their own identity through Persona. Instead, a parent or legal guardian must complete the identity verification on their behalf.
Just as in any medical setting, verifying identity allows us to ensure appropriate and confidential care for every patient.
