SafeGard services
The cost of SafeGard services is covered by a voucher purchased from one of our partner pharmacies.
You pay for this voucher directly through the pharmacy (for example, Costco) using a credit or debit card.
This voucher covers:
The SafeGard online intake
Physician review and Travel Report
Prescriptions and vaccine orders sent to your pharmacy
SafeGard services are not billed to insurance.
Vaccines and medications
Once your prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy, you’ll pay for the vaccines and medications there.
The pharmacy will process your insurance and apply any available coverage.
Coverage varies by plan and by vaccine or medication.
The pharmacy can also tell you the cash price before insurance is applied.
How to confirm insurance coverage before your appointment
Your pharmacy can help you determine your insurance coverage after they receive your prescriptions from SafeGard.
They can:
Run an eligibility check with your insurance provider.
Provide the cash price of vaccines and medications if you prefer to pay out of pocket.
Generally speaking, pharmacies are prohibited from running insurance eligibility checks before a valid prescription is received, so you’ll likely need to wait until your pharmacy has received SafeGard’s recommendations before they can officially check your coverage.
If your insurance requires prior authorization, the pharmacist will initiate this process after receiving your prescriptions. SafeGard can assist the pharmacy if needed.
As an alternative, you can also contact your insurance company directly and ask whether specific vaccines or travel medications are covered under your plan.
